Herrera

Loved the Carolina Herrera show, such inspired dressing.  It reminded me of a kind of Bonnie Cashin meets Katharine Hepburn,  meets Georgia O'Keefe!  I absolutely loved all the layered looks, not only beautiful but also practical for cold weather living.  I thought the colors were vibrant and beautiful, and so very luxe!  I liked the shot of baby blue and thought it was an unexpected but successful choice!  The prints reminded me of watercolors and had a Chinese-ish feeling that I thought was really gorgeous, and the best part was the vibrancy of the colors.  I was really attracted to all the details, ie beading, fur, and flower embroideries which added ornamentation.  Said embroideries reminded me of lace but were way more modern.  If this is how I'm going to be dressing come fall, well I can't wait! <3 Brijitte

Faves so far!

It's New York fashion week and of course I have to give my two cents!  I really loved the layering and textures at Gary Graham, and I thought the aesthetic was really cool!  I love anything that is alienesque, and I thought the hair and makeup really did make the girls look extraterrestrial.   I loved how everything looked a little disheveled and nothing looked brand new.  I have to say I would wear almost every piece, the silhouettes were feminine and the draping made the garments really interesting.

I also really loved Chris Benz' collection.  The colors were beautiful muted jewel tones, the patterns were really interesting, and the silhouettes were classic with an unusual twist.  I loved the layering and the fur, and thought the fabrics were gorgeous and unique.  Loved the shoes, and thought that the playful elements were really interesting, which basically means I really want the fur gloves and the electric hats!  All in all wish I could wear beautiful clothes like these.  Stay tuned for more faves from fashion week. <3 Brijitte

1969-2010

There are so many things I could say about Alexander Mcqueen, in fact I thought of more than a few!  But there are no words to express the greatness.  Mcqueen was my idol and it is so sad to think that he is gone.  The world will not be the same without his beautiful art.  In homage to him I decided to illustrate a few looks that I have found inspiring from throughout the years.  I had the grand idea to do multiple illustrations but have only finished these two, so they will have to do for now.  My love for Mcqueen and my love for fashion are synonymous and he will be truly missed but never forgotten!  <3 Brijitte

Gemma-licious

It makes me seriously sad that Gemma Ward isn't a model anymore.  She was one of the greatest models of all time in my eyes.  I just love her alien-esque looks, and think she is so interesting to look at!  I know there has been a lot of talk about how she has gained weight and isn't skinny anymore,  well I don't really care about that, although I do wish she was still modeling and giving us pictures to inspire us! <3 Brijitte

Pre-Fall

I'm loving pre-fall and wanted to do some illustrations before fashion week, because then there will be a huge new assortment of beautiful things to draw.  I chose the Valentino piece because I wanted to show my support for Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Piccioli. I love love love their pre-fall collection.  The tailoring is impeccable, the color usage phenomenal, and the shoes oh the beautiful shoes!  I know there has been some debate as to their couture presentation, and though I do understand that it did not fit with what Valentino is know for, it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!  It's like open your minds and your eyes, just because someone is designing for an established label, no matter how amazing, doesn't mean they don't have their own vision!  And furthermore should an artist stifle their artistic sensibilities and conform to someone else's standards, no!  So everyone should look at Valentino not by the standards it did before, but as a new entity with the same old name!  I think thats enough of a rant for now just know I loved tons and tons of collections in Pre-fall  and these are only 2 pieces! <3 Brijitte

60's Chic!

This illustration was intended to be a portrait of Anne Hathaway from her W cover.  But while I was creating this it she kind of took on a life of her own.  I just absolutely loved the styling of the cover and thought that Anne looked amazingly gorgeous!  I intend on doing the portrait of Anne at a later time so look forward to seeing it soon.  But as I was illustrating this picture I thought this girl (whoever she is) was beautiful too and so here she is in all her glory!  I love the 60's and thought that the styling of this picture was a wonderful reflection of a 60's style.  Enjoy <3 Brijitte

Zimmerwoman!

Raquel Zimmerman has been one of my fave models for quite some time.  Not only is she beautiful but she always takes an amazing picture.  Her photos are always outstanding and she is a fixture on most every runway.  And don't even get me started on that body! Envy doesn't even begin to describe! <3 Brijitte

"Face of the 20th Century"

When I saw Catwalk for the first time I was in utter amazement!  If you haven't seen it or don't know what it is well you don't know what your missing!  Catwalk is a documentary about supermodel Christy Turlington.  It was shot by Robert Leacock and is basically the bible for anyone obsessed with the supermodels of the 90's.  As part of my icons series I've done an illustration of "the face of the 20th century"  I actually saw Turlington on the street shooting a maybelline ad a few years ago in New York, and she is definitely born with it, as if it was even a question. Anywho I love her and think she is just so beautiful, in a very clean american athletic perfect way.  And P.s. I hope I look 1% as good as she does when I'm 41! <3 Brijitte

Iconic

I'm currently working on a series of iconic beauties!  All women whose beauty I find inspirational! I of course had to start with the one and only Brigitte Bardot!  She has always been a style and beauty inspiration to me.  She is effortlessly beautiful and oozes sex appeal!  I hope you can see Brigitte in this picture because I kind of see a little mix of Gwyneth, Joni Mitchell, and Brigitte's love child!  Oh well love them all so it's a kill a million birds with one stone kinda sitch!  <3 Brijitte

p.s.  I know I may seem like an obsessed poster at the moment but I'm just trying to get a good start on this blog! And plus don't you want something to look at? Or would you rather be bored?  I thought so!
